The Chairman's Trophy

In 2006 the Chairman of the Board of Deputies Ian Tebbutt, introduced the "Chairman's Trophy" to recognise the excellent displays of flowers around the estate.

The trophy itself is an engraved spade kindly donated by Bentley's which was obtained by Maurice Hill.

There are some keen gardeners amongst the residents with beautiful hanging baskets, tubs and patio gardens on display.

On 14th July 2007 three judges including Chairman Maurice Hill, his wife June and Iris Tebbutt spent time considering the entries and after a very close result, Gill Wilson was awarded the Chairman's Trophy for 2007.

friends enjoying the barbecue

The day was warm and sunny and the celebrations were rounded off with deputies with their wives and many residents enjoying drinks and a barbecue outside the community centre.

There was a good selection of food and everyone enjoyed the afternoon and the company.

Everyone was relaxed and enjoying a brief glimpse of sunshine (a rarity during this 2007)

Dorothy receiving prize for the best allotment

A prize for the best allotment was awarded for the first time to Dorothy Harding who together with her husband Keith and neighbours David and Rita Johnson have started their allotment during 2006/07.

Keith refused to have his phiotograph taken with Dorothy as he claims "Dorothy does all the planning and planting on the allotment", he just supplies the muscle power, as required.

David and Rita were unable to attend the festivities as they were visiting relatives.
