The Chairman's Trophy

In 2006 the Chairman of the Board of Deputies Ian Tebbutt, introduced the "Chairman's Trophy" to recognise the excellent displays of flowers around the estate.

The trophy itself is an engraved spade kindly donated by Bentley's which was obtained by Maurice Hill.

There are some keen gardeners amongst the residents with beautiful hanging baskets, tubs and patio gardens on display.

In July 2010 judges including Chairman Paul Ross and his wife Julie spent time considering the entries and after a very close result, Tony Chettle and Joyce & Edwin Rouse were jointly awarded the Chairman's Trophy for 2009.

The celebrations were rounded off with deputies with their wives and many residents enjoying a barbecue in the shelter of community centre.

There was a good selection of food and everyone enjoyed the afternoon and the company.

Rose Smith has enjoyed her floral display and was thrilled to receive a prize for her front garden. Friends have helped to make this possible for which Rose (who is in her 90's ) is very grateful.

Kay Lester despite being in her 90's is a keen gardener and was another popular winner, this time for the best front and rear patio areas.

Well done Kay
