Developments at the Holt

The Community Centre

The community centre was extended during 2005 to provided additional space to the existing function room.

A new laundry room and a separate workman's toilet were also added.

The new function room has been re-decorated and fitted out to a high standard.

Now the interior has been updated the exterior requires attention.

Work has just started on the shrub beds outside which have become tired and overgrown.

Bungalow Extensions

The Deputies identified a need for some bungalows to be extended and started a programme in 2004.

Up to 8 bungalows on the estate may be extended but to date bungalows 13, 15 and 29 have been completed and No 11 is in the final stages of completion.

A lobby area and extra bedroom have been added to give additional space for couples to move into the Holt.

Shower Room /Wet Rooms

Shower rooms in the bungalows are being updated to wet rooms.

The shower tray is removed and a new floor put in which slopes towards a drain near the shower area. A new waterproof non slip floor covering is fitted to the whole of the floor area and up the walls for approximetley 4 inches.

The shower room is half tiled down to the flooring with the shower area being fully tiled.

This creates a disabled friendly shower area as there is no step and the effect is a much larger space in the shower room.

Finally a new basin and toilet are fitted and an electric shower unit provides a constant water temperature for users.

For additional safety a shower seat and grab rails are fitted as necessary.
